New Westminster Man Wanted On 4 Warrants Found Hiding In Broom Closet

Darpan News Desk, 14 Apr, 2017 12:07 PM
On April 11th 2017 at approximately 11:10am, New Westminster Police were looking for 37 year old New Westminster resident Darryl Shane McIntyre in the 700 block of 5th Avenue. The search for Mr. McIntyre resulted after four province-wide warrants for being unlawfully at large were issued.

Officers from the Operational Support Unit located Mr. McIntyre, but he immediately fled on foot. While running from the officers, Mr. McIntyre followed someone into a nearby low-rise apartment building.

Officers were assisted by a police dog who located Mr. McIntyre hiding in a broom closet near the building’s roof. When they attempted to arrest him, Mr. McIntyre allegedly became combative with the officers and he subsequently sustained minor dog bite wounds.

“Mr. McIntyre was checked by a doctor at a local hospital, and was released by medical staff a short time later,” stated Media Relations Officer Acting Sergeant Jeff Scott. “It is serious when someone has four warrants for being unlawfully at large. We have a responsibility to the public and the courts to locate people who have active warrants for their arrest.”

Mr. McIntyre remains in custody to appear in court.
