North Shore Rescue team finds missing hiker after all-night search

  • North Shore Rescue team finds missing hiker after all-night search

A search and rescue team in North Vancouver says a missing hiker has been located after an all-night search.

North Shore Rescue says the hiker was found "cold and wet, but uninjured" near Norvan Falls in Lynn Headwaters Regional Park.

The team says the hiker was "very lucky" and found a blue tarp to shelter through the night, which helped rescuers find them from the air.

A social media post by North Shore Rescue says that wearing bright colours can help "save your life" if lost in the backcountry.

The search and rescue team says its members and the RCMP were out searching the area all night, and used thermal drones to find the missing hiker.

The team says it was thankful for the help of Coquitlam Search and Rescue, Lions Bay Search and Rescue, Talon Helicopters, North Vancouver Mounties and Lynn Headwaters park rangers in the rescue efforts.
