'Nude' Judge Seeks Stay Of Sex Photos As Evidence In Disciplinary Hearing

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 20 Nov, 2014 11:30 AM

TORONTO — A senior Manitoba judge is asking Federal Court to block a disciplinary committee from viewing graphic sexual photographs her husband took of her.

The stay ruling would be in effect until the courts can decide whether the pictures should be admitted as evidence.

A judicial committee is slated to start disciplinary proceedings against Associate Chief Justice Lori Douglas within days.

One allegation she faces is that the photographs — posted on the Internet without her consent — are "demeaning to woman."

Her lawyer says the committee doesn't need to see them to do its job.

The committee's independent counsel says the panel does need to view the photographs to decide on Douglas's future.
