The Canadian Press, 28 Nov, 2018 12:41 PM
CACHE CREEK, B.C. — A school bus carrying a high school girls' volleyball team has crashed on a highway in British Columbia's Interior, injuring several people including one with critical, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Cpl. Mike Halskov with BC RCMP Traffic Services says the bus with two adults and 10 youth on board went off the road and into a ditch on Highway 97 near Cache Creek.

B.C. Emergency Health Services says in a tweet that it responded to the crash just after 12 p.m. Tuesday and triaged 12 patients, with early indications that all were in stable condition.

The agency says in a follow-up tweet that one critically injured patent was transported to hospital by air ambulance while seven others were taken via ground ambulance.

A school district superintendent says the College Heights Secondary girls volleyball team from Prince George was involved in the crash.

Marilyn Marquis-Forster says the team was headed to Powell River to compete in the BC High School Volleyball Championships.

It's not clear what caused the single-vehicle crash.
