One man dead after tragic crash at Granville St. Bridge

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 31 Jul, 2014 11:08 AM
Granville St. Bridge has been closed to the southbound traffic following a tragic crash that occurred early this morning at around 3:45 a.m. The deadly crash left one man dead and another has been taken into custody.

Speed and alcohol are being considered as factors in the investigation.

"It involved two cars: a green Honda and a white Mercedes," says Constable Brian Montague. "It appears the Mercedes rear-ended the Honda on the bridge."

"Speed and alcohol are most likely going to be factors here," adds Montague. "The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the Mercedes is being detained by the Vancouver Police."

Further, the investigators are suspecting a witness to the crash as well.

"There are some skid marks over top of the debris. So it appears as though someone either witnessed the accident or came upon the accident very shortly after it happened and didn't stick around to speak with police. We'd really like to speak with them to see if they can provide us with any additional information."

The bridge will reportedly remain closed to the southbound traffic until this afternoon.
