The Canadian Press, 16 Jul, 2015 10:37 AM
PORT ALBERNI, B.C. — An 18-year-old Port Alberni, B.C., woman is facing charges related to the death of another teenager from the Vancouver Island city.

RCMP Insp. Mac Richards says the 18-year-old is expected in court soon and her name will not be released until after she appears.

She was arrested early Wednesday morning, along with two other young people, as Mounties responded to a fight underway on a city street.

Nineteen-year-old Carlene Jack was found critically injured as police arrived and was rushed to hospital, where she died.

Police have not said how Jack died or what prompted the altercation, but they say she knew her attacker.

Richards says the investigation is continuing, but the other two people arrested with the 18-year-old have been released and further charges are not expected.
