Paradis says more must be done to fight Ebola; Cda contributes another $30M

UNITED NATIONS, N.Y. - Canada is contributing another $30 million to the fight against the Ebola outbreak in Africa.

International Development Minister Christian Paradis says the money will be channelled through the Canadian Red Cross and other agencies.

The money will help in treating patients and will also go for education and prevention efforts.

Canada earlier contributed $5 million and hundreds of doses of an experimental vaccine to fight the deadly outbreak, but Paradis says the spread of the disease in west Africa means more must be done.

He says there must be greater efforts to co-ordinate the international response.

The virus has killed about 3,000 people in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia, Senegal and Nigeria since the outbreak began in the summer.
