Parents Charged After Baby Left In Car Outside Toronto-Area Costco

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 20 Jul, 2016 12:01 PM
MARKHAM, Ont. — Charges have been laid against Toronto-area parents after police say they left their baby in a locked car outside a Costco store.

York Regional Police say they were called to the Markham, Ont., store Tuesday evening and found the child in a car with the windows closed.

They say officers broke the windows and rescued the baby, who was then brought to an ambulance to cool down.

Const. Andy Pattenden says the baby is fine and was returned to the parents once they came out of the store.

The Children's Aid Society is now involved and the parents have been charged under the Child and Family Services Act with leaving a child unattended.

They are due in court on Aug. 22.
