Pedestrian involved in a fatal collision with a transit bus: New Westminster Police investigate

The New Westminster Police are investigating fatal motor vehicle incident investigation in the 300 block of East 8^th Avenue.

On Tuesday in the evening around 7:00 patrol officers were called to the 300 block of East 8^th Avenue for an unresponsive pedestrian involved in a collision with a transit bus.

Via release, Sergeant Justine Thom says “This is a tragic event and our thoughts are with the family of this individual, we have a large team of investigators working together to determine how this happened, but we are still in the early stages at this point.”

The vehicle and driver involved in the collision had left the scene before police arrival; however, the driver has since come forward and is cooperating with investigators. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital however, despite medical intervention, succumbed to his injuries.

Vancouver Police are investigating the city’s eighth pedestrian fatality of the year, which occurred around 12:30 p.m. today on West Georgia Street. Police believe a woman was struck by a charter bus near West Georgia and Cardero Street.
