  • Peter Milobar joins growing field in B.C. Conservative leadership race

Peter Milobar, the finance critic for the opposition B.C. Conservatives, is joining the race to lead the party.

Milobar, who announced his candidacy outside the B.C. legislature, becomes the third contender added this week.

He is the MLA for Kamloops Centre and a former longtime mayor of Kamloops, and his campaign has the slogan "ready to lead BC."

Other fresh candidates in the race to succeed John Rustad, who stepped down last month, include political commentator Caroline Elliott and Iain Black, a former minister in the BC Liberal government of Gordon Campbell.

They joined B.C. Conservative MLA Sheldon Clare, entrepreneur Yuri Fulmer and Rossland contractor Warren Hamm among the declared candidates.
