PIC: Surrey Residents Generously 'Pack The Police Car'

Darpan News Desk, 17 Dec, 2016 02:50 PM
More than 4,500 pounds of food and over $8,000 in cash were collected in support of local food banks and Christmas hamper programs during the Surrey RCMP’s eleven Pack the Police Car events held across the city between December 1st and 13th.

The Surrey RCMP would like to thank everyone for their tremendous kindness in helping us pack the police car with food and donations to help those in need, says Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann. The snowy conditions and cold temperatures certainly didn’t affect the warm hearts of our residents this holiday season.

The Surrey RCMP’s Pack the Police Car initiative is one of our most outstanding fundraisers, says Marilyn Herrmann, Executive Director of Surrey Food Bank.

We are so grateful to our police officers who promote a sense of true generosity within our community. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who makes this possible and to those who give, knowing they are making a huge difference to others.

Surrey RCMP has been involved in a few other holiday themed activities this past month to help spread some holiday cheer in the city.

This included officers and staff organizing a holiday toy drive, collecting warm blankets for those in need, singing Christmas carols to the elderly, and raising funds for the Surrey Food Bank at the detachment’s annual potluck lunch.

Starting next week, Surrey RCMP officers will also be sharing some of their Mountie Wishes for the community this holiday season on our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
