Pickup Tail Gate Thefts Result In Arrests In Ridge Meadows, B.C.

    Maple Ridge, B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP have arrested two men after they were found in possession of five pickup truck tail gates that are believed to be stolen.
     
    Members of the Prolific Offender Suppression Team (POST) made the arrests at a business in Richmond, B.C. on Monday May 16, 2016.
     
    Corporal Brenda Winpenny said, These key arrests come at a critical point, as Ridge Meadows RCMP noted a significant increase in truck tail gates being stolen in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Investigators worked diligently following up on leads, and now believe these two suspects are responsible for the majority of these thefts in our communities. It is also believed they may be responsible for similar thefts in neighbouring communities, and this is being followed up with police in those jurisdictions.
     
    Police have recommended charges of theft and possession of stolen property. 
     
    Supt. David Fleugel added, The ability of our officers to investigate this multi-jurisdictional case and making these arrests, will have positive affects throughout the Lower Mainland.
     
    The two men appeared at a judicial hearing on May 17 and were released by a justice. The investigation is continuing.
