PNE reveals plans for new amphitheatre

  • PNE reveals plans for new amphitheatre

The Pacific National Exhibition has revealed its plans for a new amphitheatre at its northeast Vancouver site and P-N-E president Shelley Frost predicts it will be "one of the most spectacular venues of its kind."

She says it will be environmentally sustainable and showcase B-C building products and engineering.

It's expected construction will begin next year -- with completion set for 2026 -- and Frost says the theatre, which she describes as a "jewel among Vancouver's spectacular venues," will host a wide variety of music and culture events.

The P-N-E made the announcement about the amphitheatre this morning, saying it will feature one of the longest timber arch roofs in the world, which will also be engineered to act as a significant sound barrier to reduce noise spreading to surrounding homes.
