ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — Police in Abbotsford, B.C., say they have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with an alleged abduction attempt in the Fraser Valley city.

A news release was issued Monday morning crediting the public and media for tips that helped resolve the incident which occurred at around 5:15 p.m. on Sept. 17.

A 16-year-old girl reported a man in a van drove past her several times as she waited for a bus.

The suspect parked and offered her liquor and a ride to work before allegedly grabbing her arm and trying to pull her into the van.

The man fled when a passerby intervened, and police are still appealing for that Good Samaritan to come forward and describe what happened.

Const. Ian MacDonald has said the teen was not physically hurt but she and her family remain very upset about the incident.
