Police Identify Surrey Truck Driver As Suspect In Homeless Pedestrian's Hit-And-Run Death

The Canadian Press, 13 Mar, 2015 01:26 PM
SURREY, B.C. — RCMP have identified a truck driver believed to be responsible for the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in Surrey, B.C.

    Police believe a 31-year-old man driving a semi-truck struck a man at about 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

Mounties say the 55-year-old victim of no fixed address was pushing a grocery cart when he was hit from behind and later died in hospital.

Police say the suspect works for the trucking company that owns the vehicle involved in the crash.

RCMP say that while a suspect has been identified, he has not yet been located and they are asking him to come forward.

Sgt. Dale Carr has released a statement warning the suspect that presenting himself to police would be better than officers tracking him down.
