Police In Delta, B.C., Pull Wristband Supporting Officer Accused Of Murder

The Canadian Press, 22 Dec, 2014 12:03 PM
DELTA, B.C. — A Metro Vancouver police department says it is removing online promotions for the sale of a wristband that support of an officer facing a second-degree murder charge.

The blue wristbands were created for Delta Police Const. Jordan MacWilliams, accused in the death of 48-year-old Mehrdad Bayrami, who died during a police standoff in November 2012.

The bracelets feature the words honour, integrity, courage and trust along with MacWilliams' badge number.

The Delta Police Department posted promotions on its website and social media, but now says it won't be marketing the wristbands after getting complaints.

The department says it is attentive to the public's concerns and wants to avoid any confusion or implied questions about its impartiality.

The $2 wristbands are still available for purchase through the Delta Police Association.
