Police In Terrace, B.C., Search For Driver In Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash

The Canadian Press, 20 Nov, 2018 01:23 PM
TERRACE, B.C. — The Mounties are searching for a pickup-type truck that was involved in a deadly hit-and-run accident over the weekend near Terrace, B.C.

Police say the body of a man in his 30s was discovered in the ditch on the north side of Highway 16 about four kilometres outside the city.

The man's injuries were consistent with having been struck by a vehicle and police say there was supporting evidence at the scene.

The man has been identified as a Terrace resident and police say it's believed he was walking on the shoulder facing traffic when the crash occurred between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Police say they're looking for a larger pickup that would have significant damage to the passenger side and may be missing a passenger-side mirror.

The RCMP say they're also urging the driver to come forward to police.

POLICE IN TERRACE, B.C., SAY FORD F350 IS SUSPECT VEHICLE IN FATAL HIT-AND-RUN

TERRACE, B.C. — RCMP say they are making progress in the search for the driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run collision with a pedestrian early Sunday along Highway 16 in northwestern British Columbia.

Cpl. Mike Halskov with RCMP Traffic Services says additional experienced investigators have arrived in Terrace to help.

He says the suspect vehicle has been narrowed to a 2011 to 2016 Ford F350 pickup with damage to the passenger side, including the mirror.

A boat trailer that the pickup may have been towing at the time has also been recovered and police say it has damage consistent with the crash.

Halskov says in a news release that investigators believe the driver was not acting alone when the victim was hit and the suspect or that person's lawyer is urged to come forward.

The body of a man in his 30s was found in a ditch along Highway 16 just outside Terrace on Sunday, and police have already said he was likely walking on the shoulder facing traffic when he was hit before dawn.
