  • Police investigate drowning at Harrison Lake Lagoon, one person found deceased

RCMP say they've recovered the remains of a man who was presumed to have drowned in a lagoon at the village of Harrison Hot Springs, about 130 kilometres east of Vancouver.

Mounties in Agassiz, B.C., say officers responded to the Harrison Lagoon at about 11:20 p.m. on Friday after receiving a report of a possible drowning.

RCMP says police officers, crews from the Harrison Hot Springs Fire Department and search and rescue attended the scene and tried to find the man as pedestrians and vehicles were warned to avoid the area.

In a Saturday update, Mounties say the body of the victim was located Saturday.

They say no further details will be released out of respect for the family.

The Village of Harrison Hot Springs says in a social media post that the lagoon has now been reopened to the public.
