FORT NELSON, B.C. — Mounties are investigating after a man was shot and injured while camping about 100 kilometres south of Fort Nelson, B.C.
 
Police say they responded to a call late Tuesday night about a 21-year-old man who was rushed to hospital from his campsite near the Prophet River First Nation.
 
A 41-year-old area resident was arrested and is being held in custody.
 
Police say they're considering a charge of careless use of a firearm.
 
Staff Sgt. Steve McLeod says the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and the suspect was arrested shortly after it happened.
 
The young man who was shot remains in stable condition in hospital.
