Police Release Terrifying Photo Of Axe-Wielding Robber In Tinted Helmet

The Canadian Press, 10 Mar, 2016 12:50 PM
HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, N.L. — It would be hard to imagine a more terrifying robber: A man carrying a large axe, dressed all in black, his face hidden behind a tinted black snowmobile helmet.

RCMP Cpl. Rick Mills says in nine years he has never seen a convenience store robbery similar to the one Saturday night in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador.

The axe-wielding man demanded cash from a lone female clerk at the Labrador Spice Mini Mart.

Mills, who released a striking photograph of the robber, says the frightening incident took less than a minute as the man fled with an undisclosed amount.

Store clerk Berdina Saunders says the young woman working alone at the time was shaken but not physically hurt.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
