BURNABY, B.C. — RCMP say a Mountie suffered a broken arm while attempting to stop a driver who was allegedly using an electronic device behind the wheel in Burnaby, B.C.

Police say the officer was on foot when she tried to stop the vehicle but the man struck her and drove off.

Supt. Chuck McDonald of the Burnaby RCMP says the incident shows the danger that officers face as they do their jobs.

He says the driver should do the right thing and contact police.

The suspect was driving a grey Dodge Nitro SUV and is described as a South Asian man with a heavy build and shaved head.

Police say he was wearing a white T-shirt, grey sweat pants and had a tattoo on his left arm.
