Police To Hold Update: One-year Anniversary Of Winnipeg Woman's Disappearance

The Canadian Press, 11 Jul, 2016 11:19 AM
WINNIPEG — Monday marks the one-year anniversary of a Winnipeg woman's disappearance.

Thelma Krull was last seen the morning of July 11 after she left her home in the city's northeast to go for a walk.

In the last 12 months, police, friends, family and volunteers have searched for clues or any trace of Krull.

Several searches centred on the Valley Gardens Community Club where police found glasses belonging to the mother and grandmother.

Winnipeg police are planning a media briefing on Monday morning to release new details in the case.

Const. Rob Carver says the investigation remains a missing person’s case and a member of the homicide unit will provide the update.

“The anniversary is important for family and everyone connected to the case,” Carver said. “It’s an opportunity for the community to learn about the status of where the investigation will be going.”

In the days after Krull vanished, police released a video of her walking near her home.

"This is Winnipeg. It's a great city and we need your help, so please, please if you have anything, call the police,” Krull's husband, Robert, said days after his wife vanished.

In March, volunteers renewed their efforts by putting up hundreds of posters in the hope they would jog someone's memory.

Family and friends are planning a gathering Monday night to remember Krull.
