Police Urge Parents To Talk To Kids About Chilliwack Coach Charged With Sexual Assault

The Canadian Press, 15 Feb, 2018 11:46 AM
CHILLIWACK, B.C. — Sexual assault charges have been filed against a British Columbia man involved with youth sports.

RCMP say Richard Codie Hindle, also known as Codie Anderson, was arrested for alleged offences in Chilliwack dating back to 2011.

Police say in a news release that 35-year-old Hindle has been charged with one count of sexual interference with a minor, and allegations against him were reported in early 2016.

Staff Sgt. Darren Stevely of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment says there may be other victims and parents should talk to their children about any contact they may have had with Hindle.

Mounties say Hindle has participated in youth sports in the Fraser Valley area since 1995.

Police say he coached basketball at a local leisure centre and at elementary and middle schools and also oversaw overnight programs, camping trips and a sports academy.
