Prolific Offender Arrested on 11 Outstanding Warrants After Following Through Fare Gates

Darpan News Desk, 12 Dec, 2019 08:28 PM

A man who decided to follow another passenger through the fare gates, without tapping his own fare media, obviously didn’t consider the repercussions of his actions.

On December 11, 2019, at approximately 12:15 am, Metro Vancouver Transit Police Officers, on patrol in the area of Scott Road SkyTrain Station, spotted a man follow another passenger through a fare gate without tapping fare media.

While speaking with officers the man became nervous and evasive when asked questions. He then jumped on his bike in an attempt to get away. Officers were able to quickly catch up and place the man under arrest.

Arrested was 36-year-old, Reginald SIMON, of no fixed address. SIMON is a prolific offender who is very well known to police. Through investigation it was determined that SIMON was wanted on a total of 11 outstanding warrants with over twenty charges.

SIMON is also wanted on 8, non-returnable, out of province warrants and was found to be breaching several court ordered conditions at the time of his arrest.

Following someone through a fare gate without tapping fare media can result in a $173 fine, however, when you have 11 outstanding warrants, the consequences are much greater and jail is inevitable.
