'Pure Love:' Sister Remembers Slain Calgary Stampeder Mylan Hicks

The Canadian Press, 28 Sep, 2016 11:52 AM
DETROIT — The sister of slain Calgary Stampeder Mylan Hicks says the 23 year old was "pure love."

Jazzmine Fowlkes says police told her Hicks was trying to defuse an argument at a Calgary nightclub early Sunday before he was killed.

Fowlkes says she was the first family member to get the news Hicks had been shot outside the Marquee Beer Market and Stage.

She says pain shot through her body and all she could do was scream when police told her what happened.

Fowlkes says even though Hicks was six years younger than her, he often acted like a big brother.

She says Hicks was a doting uncle to her two sons and she was looking forward to him visiting family in Detroit in December.
