Quebec Screenwriter Bernard Dansereau Alleges Claude Jutra Abused Him

The Canadian Press, 22 Feb, 2016 12:47 PM

MONTREAL — A Quebec screenwriter is alleging he was sexually abused at the age of 12 or 13 by film director Claude Jutra.

Bernard Dansereau has told Montreal La Presse that Jutra slipped into his bed while he was sleeping one night in the early 1970s.

He says it happened only once.

Jutra saw his name stripped last week from Quebec's film awards after a published report said he abused a boy for 10 years, beginning when the alleged victim was six years old.

That report followed the release of a biography that said Jutra slept with boys believed to be 14 or 15.

Jutra, whose films included "Mon oncle Antoine'' and "Kamouraska,'' committed suicide in 1986 after battling Alzheimer's disease.
