Rainy Crash On Twisting Vancouver Island Highway Kills Ontario Cyclist

The Canadian Press, 25 Sep, 2015 11:46 AM
UCLUELET, B.C. — A 61-year-old Brampton, Ont., man has been killed in a cycling accident on a winding Vancouver Island highway.

RCMP in Ucluelet, B.C., say he was cycling in heavy rain and limited visibility on Thursday when he lost control on a hill near the community and veered into the path of an oncoming pickup truck.

The cyclist, whose name will not be released, died at the scene.

Officers determined the pickup driver was operating the truck safely and no charges are expected.

The BC Coroners Service is investigating.

Police also say RCMP Victim Services is supporting the man's wife and family.
