Rally Planned For Olando Brown Who Died After Encounter With Police In Barrie

Darpan News Desk IANS, 11 Jul, 2018 11:52 AM
BARRIE, Ont. — The family of a man who died following an encounter with police in Barrie, Ont., will rally at the police station today.

Ontario's police watchdog is investigating the death of 32-year-old Olando Brown, who went into medical distress after he was taken into custody by officers.

Brown's family has shared a video that appears to show police using a stun gun on a black man more than once, and also appears to show the man being hit by an officer.

Brown's aunt Barbara South says her family wants those she sees as responsible for her nephew's death to be held accountable.

The protest is scheduled for 11 a.m. today, and will be attended by members of the Toronto faction of Black Lives Matter.
