Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 22 Jan, 2015 11:26 AM

WINNIPEG — A mother and father from a Manitoba reserve have been charged with killing their young daughter.

RCMP say Vanessa Bushie, who is 36, has been charged with second-degree murder and failing to provide the necessities of life in the death last July of 21-month-old Kierra Williams.

The toddler's father, Daniel Williams, has been charged with manslaughter and failing to provide the necessities of life.

The toddler's stepsister, Jasmine Bushie, who is 20, also faces charges of manslaughter and failing to provide the necessities of life.

RCMP say the young girl from Peguis (PEHG'-wihs) First Nation, north of Winnipeg, died from trauma-related injuries.

All three adults were arrested earlier this week and are in custody.
