Remains Pulled From B.C. Pulp Mill Pond Are Those Of Missing Wildfire Evacuee

    KAMLOOPS, B.C. — A body pulled from a settling pond at a pulp mill in British Columbia's southern Interior has been identified as that of a 67-year-old man who went missing after he was driven from his home by wildfires last summer.
     
    Kamloops RCMP say foul play is not suspected in the death of David Jeff.
     
    An investigation is continuing into how his body ended up in the pond on the Domtar pulp mill site near Kamloops.
     
    Cpl. Jody Shelkie says Jeff was last seen in Kamloops on Aug. 4 after his home in Williams Lake was ordered evacuated because of several nearby wildfires.
     
    Police issued a missing persons bulletin for him in mid-August but received no further information.
     
    Shelkie says investigators are creating a timeline of Jeff's movements and would like to speak to anyone who spent time with him in July or August.
