Rescuers In Northwestern B.C. Search Remote Highway For Missing Oregon Man

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 02 Dec, 2016 01:15 PM
ISKUT, B.C. — A search was underway along a remote northwestern B.C. highway for a 70-year-old Alaska man who was last seen on the route Monday.

A news release from the RCMP says family members report Tony Adevai was driving from Oregon to his home in Alaska when he disappeared.

His daughter, Trace Cooper, says her father's abandoned truck, containing all his personal items except his wallet, was found Tuesday on Highway 37 North, about 500 kilometres north of Terrace.

She says a snowplow driver on Highway 37 said he was flagged down Monday by a frightened, disoriented man who fit Adevai's description.

The RCMP says Adevai has Alzheimer disease and was returning to Alaska for a medical appointment this week, while his family says Adevai also requires insulin.

They say it's possible that Adevai was picked up by another driver, but dog teams and search volunteers are scouring the Iskut area, where Adevai's truck was found.
