Richmond Police Investigating First Pedestrian Fatality of 2020

    On January 14, 2020, shortly before 10:30 a.m. Richmond RCMP responded to the area of Cooney Road and Ackroyd Road for reports of a pedestrian struck.

     

    A 72-year old man from Richmond was struck by a light coloured pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck pulled over to offer assistance and has been cooperative with police.


    The pedestrian was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries but has since died in hospital.


    The Richmond RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) has conduct of this investigation.


    On January 16, 2020 the Richmond RCMP issued a release seeking witnesses to this collision. The Richmond RCMP is still actively seeking witnesses and is asking drivers to check their dashcams for possible footage.
