Robbery suspect leaves his wallet behind: VPD

Darpan News Desk Vancouver Police, 03 Mar, 2021 07:01 PM
  • Robbery suspect leaves his wallet behind: VPD

A suspected robber was arrested yesterday, after leaving his wallet at the crime scene. A customer leaving a local business was in a parking lot near Kingsway and Victoria at noon.

When he pulled out his phone to make a call, a man ran by and allegedly grabbed it from his hands. The victim chased after the man, who took cash out of the phone wallet and threw the phone on the ground. The victim picked up his phone and continued his pursuit, even after the suspect tried to pepper-spray him.

The robber then allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it directly at the victim, before turning and running off. He failed to notice his wallet had fallen out of his pocket.

Officers retrieved the wallet and arrested the suspect at his residence shortly after. Charges of robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon, and breach of his conditions have been recommended.
