Saskatchewan Hog Company Fined $98,000 After Pleading Guilty In Worker's Death

The Canadian Press, 05 Apr, 2016 11:49 AM
REGINA — The company that operates the largest hog production company in Saskatchewan has been fined $98,000 in the death of a worker.

Olysky Limited Partnership runs Big Sky Farms in Humboldt.

The Saskatchewan government says the company pleaded guilty to a charge under its occupational health and safety law in provincial court.

The company was charged after a worker died on April 23, 2014, after being thrown from the cab of a tractor.

The province says it requires companies to ensure that employees are trained to safely operate equipment before using it on the job.

Big Sky Farms' website says it produces more than one million pigs annually.
