Saskatchewan University Not Amused By Killer Kegger To Kick Off School Year

    SASKATOON — A party to kick off the school year that ended with four people in hospital has prompted the University of Saskatchewan to issue a notice that it will not tolerate unsafe behaviour by its students.
     
    The university says it got word last Thursday night about several police, fire and ambulance calls to a home where a celebration by a large number of students had gotten out of control.
     
    It says several people were bussed to the party, which it believes was hosted by students with the College of Agriculture and Bioresources.
     
    There was no immediate word on why the four were hospitalized. 
     
    A notice issued by the U of S on Friday says it's concerned about the party.
     
    It says safe and positive behaviour is required at university events, regardless of whether they're held on or off campus.
     
    Patti McDougall, the university's vice-provost, told Saskatoon radio station CKOM that alcohol and substance use is threatening the success and wellness of students.
     
    "The bigger picture is not this one event," she said.
