NANAIMO, B.C. - A search is underway on Vancouver Island for a man with multiple sclerosis who hasn't returned from a hike south of Nanaimo.

RCMP say 51-year-old Cortney Latoski is an avid hiker and set out Tuesday for a lengthy walk through the Living Forest Campground.

His family contacted authorities when he had not returned six hours later.

Police say Nanaimo Search and Rescue was contacted and crews searched unsuccessfully overnight.

    The search resumed Wednesday.

Latoski is just under six feet tall with a slim build, and is believed to be wearing a black quilted jacket, acid-washed jeans and new, white runners.
