Search Suspended For Man Who Went Missing In BC's Murky Nautley River

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 07 Apr, 2015 12:07 PM
FORT FRASER, B.C. — A search for a missing man in a fast-flowing northern B.C. river has been called off.

The man is believed to have fallen into the Nautley River near the community of Fort Fraser, west of Vanderhoof, at about 12:30 p.m. on Easter Sunday.

Chris Mushumanski of Nechako Valley Search and Rescue says an extensive search of the murky waters by water and air was suspended late Monday.

He says jet boats and a helicopter were used to comb an area along the Nautley River and adjoining Nechako River — in some cases in excess of 20 times — to no avail.

Mushumanski says safety was becoming an issue because of limited visibility in the water, and the search is off until either more information becomes available or conditions improve.

He says the RCMP is investigating and has now started a missing persons file. (250 News)
