  • Search Underway On Mackenzie River For 2 People After Capsized Canoe Found
TSIIGEHTCHIC, Canada — A search is underway on the Mackenzie River for two people after a capsized canoe was found.

Mounties say they received a report Wednesday that the watercraft was found about five kilometres upstream from Tsiigehtchic.

Fishing gear and other supplies were found with the canoe, so police believe the two fell into the river.

Boats, aircraft from the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, and staff with the Northwest Territories departments of the Environment and Natural Resources are all helping in the search.
