Several Items Of Interest In Murder Of Physics Student Found On Property: Police

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 28 Aug, 2015 11:12 AM
LOWER TRURO, N.S. — Police investigating the murder of a Dalhousie University physics student in Halifax say they have found several items on a property outside the city they believe are linked to the homicide.

Halifax police spokeswoman Theresa Rath says searchers found an unspecified number of items of "potential interest" in Lower Truro at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

She wouldn't reveal any information about the objects, but say they are being analyzed.

Rath says based on preliminary analysis, investigators believe they are connected to the death of 22-year-old Taylor Samson, whose remains have not been found.

Crews have been combing the area for days and Rath says a dive team was being brought in to search a pond on the expansive property that includes a marsh, rolling hills and a corn field.

William Michael Sandeson, a varsity track athlete who was about to start classes at Dalhousie University's medical school, was charged with first-degree murder four days after Samson was reported missing earlier this month.

A profile on Dalhousie University's website lists Sandeson's hometown as Truro.
