UPDATE: Shooting in Central Abbotsford

The AbbyPD Major Crime Unit continues to advance this investigation and follow the evidence. On January 21st, 2022, Major Crime Detectives, with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (IERT), executed two search warrants, one in Abbotsford and one in Maple Ridge.  Two men were arrested.

Charges of Aggravated Assault have been approved against 36-year-old Haman Lamar Benamaisia & 39-year-old Adam Marton. An additional count of Assault with a Weapon was approved against Mr. Marton.

“This was a multi-jurisdictional investigation that showed the importance of information sharing amongst police departments in BC to apprehend violent offenders in our community,” said Detective Ian Parks.

Today, January 10th, at 06:28 am, Abbotsford Police responded to a fight at a local apartment building within the 33400 block of George Ferguson Way. Upon police arrival, a 44-year-old male was located suffering from gunshot wounds. The male was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

AbbyPD Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation with the assistance of Patrol Officers and the Forensic Identification Section. Investigators are in the preliminary stages of this investigation; however, the initial investigation suggests this to be a targeted incident. 

Investigators seek witnesses and dashcam footage from those who may have been travelling along George Ferguson Way this morning between the hours of 05:00 am and 07:00 am and ask them to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
