Single Vehicle Roll-over Incident Snares Traffic In New West Intersection

    A single-vehicle roll-over incident is causing traffic congestion at the intersection of East 8th Avenue and East Columbia Street in the New Westminster neighbourhood of Sapperton.


    Crews are on scene and traffic is moving in all directions, however, a number of lanes are blocked which is causing severe delays. It is anticipated that the intersection will not be cleared until after the afternoon rush hour, as crews deal with the vehicle (a truck) that has rolled over.


    There are no reported injuries and investigators are in the early stages of determining what caused the truck to overturn.


    “We are advising motorists to try and find an alternate route and avoid the area of East 8th Avenue and East Columbia Street for the afternoon rush hour,” stated Sergeant Greg Smith of the NWPD Traffic Unit.
