Snowfall warnings for BC highways

Environment Canada has issued snowfall warnings along two highways due to a fall storm moving across southern B-C.

It says the Coquihalla Summit from Hope to Merritt is expected to get about 15 centimetres of snow today.

Meanwhile, Highway 3 from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass, is expected to get around 40 centimetres between now and Sunday afternoon.

The weather office says drivers planning to travel along those roads should be cautious, saying visibility may be difficult at times due to heavy or blowing snow

Police are warning pedestrians about an adult cougar roaming near downtown Victoria, telling them to avoid the area this morning. Victoria Police say on social media the cougar was spotted near Jutland Road and Dunedin Street, near the Victoria waterfront and north of the downtown core.
