Spring Storm Headed To Atlantic Canada, Significant Snowfall Expected

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 19 Mar, 2016 02:21 PM
HALIFAX — Sunday may be the official start to spring, but Atlantic Canadians are bracing for another blast of wintry weather.

Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, P.E.I. and Newfoundland and Labrador.

The national weather forecaster says a low pressure system is expected to develop near the southeastern coast of the United States on Sunday and then rapidly intensify as it moves north.

Significant snowfall is expected on Monday, with up to 20 centimetres expected in parts of New Brunswick and P.E.I.

In Nova Scotia, snow will change to a mix of freezing rain, ice pellets and rain in some areas.

Meanwhile, significant snowfall and strong winds are expected for Newfoundland late Monday and into Tuesday before the storm moves towards Labrador.
