Stabbing at a local Surrey high school leaves two teens injured

SURREY, B.C. - Police say two teenagers at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary school in Surrey, B.C., have been injured following an alleged assault with a weapon.

Surrey RCMP say they responded to reports of a stabbing on the school grounds Tuesday afternoon.

They say in a news release that teenagers were found with non-life-threatening injuries and taken to hospital.

A third teenager has been arrested.

Police say their initial investigation shows that the alleged assault stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the teens, who know each other.

Police say the RCMP youth unit is working with the school to ensure staff, students and their families are supported.

Surrey RCMP were called at 8:40am on Wednesday in relation to a man barricading himself inside a home in the 14100-block of 114A Avenue. The male is in police custody and has been arrested under the Mental Health Act. He has been transported to local hospital.
