Stun guns disguised as smartphones seized

    Mounties from the Hinton have seized two stun guns recently that were disguised as iPhones. The RCMP is now warning the public to be more aware.

    The first seizure came after a complaint stating someone was trying to sell a conducted energy weapon or, stun gun, online.

    Within 24 hours, police responded to anothet complaint of a woman causing trouble outside a bar in the Hinton area. Thereafter, another stun gun concealed as an iPhone was seized and the woman was taken into custody.

    Angela James is facing charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a prohibited weapon. The 28-year-old will appear in court on July 2.

    Police took the opportunity to remind public that while energy-conducting weapons such as Tasers and stun guns can be found online, they are considered as prohibited weapons in Canada.
