7:20 a.m. General Duty officers and Police Dog Services located a man, who they believed to be the caller, near a vehicle located near an off ramp by the Trans-Canada Highway at 176 St in Surrey.

At the scene, police observed a male getting into a vehicle and heard what sounded like a single gunshot. Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team later approached the vehicle and confirmed that the male was deceased as a result of a self-inflicted wound.

The BC Coroners Services has been notified. As police officers were at the scene of a fatality the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia has been contacted and they are now investigating to see if there is any link between police action or inaction and the death of the male.
