VANCOUVER — Separate accidents involving pedestrians in Metro Vancouver have sent two people to hospital, both with severe injuries.
 
Surrey RCMP say a 39-year-old woman was hit just after 6 p.m. Tuesday as she crossed a street (in the 12500 block of 75A Avenue) near the Newton Recreation Centre.
 
The unnamed victim has critical head and leg injuries.
 
Less than an hour later, Abbotsford Police report a 74-year-old man was rushed to hospital after being hit while crossing (at Trethewey Street and Slocan Drive) near Rotary Stadium.
 
In both cases, the drivers remained at the scene and co-operated with investigators.
 
Officers want to speak to witnesses who saw either crash.
