Surrey Bank Robbery Suspect Eric Kumar, 25, Caught And Charged

    Surrey RCMP advises that a suspect has now been arrested and charged for the August 10th bank robbery thanks to help from the public and media.
     
     
    Following the publication of a news release, officers received information from the public allowing them to quickly locate the alleged suspect in the Abbotsford area. On August 18th, officers from the Surrey RCMP Robbery Unit arrested the suspect without incident.
     
    Eric KUMAR, 25 years old from Surrey, has now been charged with three counts of Robbery and one count of Use of an imitation firearm while committing an indictable offence. He is currently in custody pending his next court appearance.
     
    Thanks to some observant members of the public and our media partners, our officers were able to quickly apprehend the suspect, says Surrey RCMP Cpl. Scotty Schumann. Our Robbery Unit has a very high clearance rate for solving financial institution robberies and bringing those responsible to justice.
