Surrey Man Saleh Mohammed Faces More Than A Dozen Drug, Weapons And Assault Charges

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 24 Nov, 2015 01:27 PM
SURREY, B.C. — Drug, weapon and assault charges have been laid against a 22-year-old Surrey, B.C., man, in what RCMP say is another arrest in the city's low-level drug trade.

Police were called to a domestic disturbance on Nov. 12, but the suspect had taken off in a vehicle with a female held inside.

Officers were then called to a single vehicle crash not far away involving the same suspect.

Police say when they arrested the man they found an AK47 assault rifle, a handgun and a large amount of cocaine and heroin inside the vehicle.

Saleh Mohammed remains in custody and is set to make his next court appearance Wednesday after being charged with two counts of assault, forcible confinement, uttering threats to police, and numerous weapons charges.

RCMP Sgt. Paul Haynes says the arrest is significant not only for disrupting the local drug trade, but also getting the dangerous weapons off the streets.
