  • Surrey RCMP arrest 2 men for liquor theft - Gurmukh Singh Thiara is facing 10 charges & Travis Emard West is facing 38 charges

The Surrey RCMP Community Response Unit has arrested two men in connection with a multitude of thefts from liquor stores across the Lower Mainland.

In February 2021, Surrey RCMP Community Response Team (CRU) initiated an investigation into a series of thefts from liquor stores in Surrey. Through investigation, officers determined that the thefts were being carried out by two individuals allegedly working together to steal alcohol from liquor stores across the Lower Mainland region. One of the men was allegedly stealing merchandise, and the other man was allegedly using his taxicab to facilitate their movement from store to store.

On March 9, 2021, Travis Emard West was arrested and remains in custody. Gurmukh Singh Thiara was arrested and later released on conditions. A total of 48 charges have been laid against the two males.

51-year-old, Travis Emard West is facing 38 charges which include: 26 counts of Theft Under $5000 and 12 counts of Failing to comply with an Undertaking.

54-year-old, Gurmukh Singh Thiara is facing 10 charges which include: Four counts of Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime Under $5000, four counts of Theft Under $5000, and two counts of Possession of a controlled substance.
